Nimbly warding off opponents was quite a feature of his life. Somehow he fitted in another career as a goalie in the game of futsal, indoor football, and was so good that, as well as playing for Canterbury United Dragons and coaching at his old school, Christchurch Boys’ High, he was picked for the Whites, the national squad. Structure Sensor + itSeez3D – Using itSeez3D’s iPad scanning app paired with occipital’s Structure Sensor, a 3D scanning camera for mobile devices, allows you to capture people and other objects simply by recording and walking around the subject. As you walk around the subject pointing the Structure Sensor at the subject, an overlaid 3D representation of the subject gets filled out in real time. The experience feels very futuristic and impressive until you get the final output back. Unless you use it in a perfectly lit, empty studio with an excellent model the results are fairly imperfect and might require touching up in a 3D modeling application. This is the most expensive option at $500 for the sensor and at least $399 for an iPad mini, so I would only recommend this if you already have 3D modeling skills and a space to scan in.
At the moment, the majority of 3D models for VR and AR content is still created manually by 3D artists, which is time intensive, costly, and not at all scalable. There is also the question of the shortage of talent which isna??t helped by the growing popularity of the gig economy. That is partly why a 3D repository like Sketchfab has become so popular as a marketplace that lets artists publish, share, discover, buy and sell 3D, VR and AR content.
Both of these new additions are likely exciting for American?or South Korean consumers, as no other device in those markets offer these tech. But for me in Hong Kong, it’s old news–there have been four or five Chinese phones with the same offerings.
Material extrusion, powder bonding and wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAC) are the primary technologies used in the construction industry. Material extrusion is also known as concrete printing, contour crafting, and deposition modeling. The process differs from the long-established sprayed-concrete method, in that it applies the material precisely and takes a layer-by-layer approach. WAAC method involves the use of an electric arc to melt wire and a robotic welder or drip feeder to construct a metal object drop by drop. The pro-cess has gained extensive publicity through MX3D’s bridge project in Amsterdam. As of now, 3D printing technology is limited a few applications such as buildings, bridges, printed molds, building components, architectural models, and interior designs.
